KISS frontman Gene Simmons had some choice words about his fellow men in his newly released book "Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business."

In an interview with Andrea Tantaros Friday, Simmons went as far as to say women should assume men will abandon them and thus devote their early lives to making money to support themselves.

"This is a very complex and difficult question to answer so I’m going to put it as simply as possible. Women: Stop depending on men. It’s as simple as that. Imagine there are no men in life," Simmons said. "Find out that thing that you’re good for that makes the money and then get married and or have children from a position of strength."

Tantaros pressed Simmons about his wife Shannon Tweed, who the rocker married in 2011 after 28 years together.

Oscar de la Renta, the fashion designer whose red carpet gowns and evening wear made him a favorite with everyone from luminaries of the stage and screen to first ladies, died Monday. He was 82.

De la Renta died at home Monday evening in Connecticut surrounded by family and friends and "more than a few dogs," according to a handwritten statement signed by two of his company's executives, Alex Bolen and Eliza Bolen.

"While our hearts are broken by the idea of life without Oscar, he is still very much us. Oscar's hard work, his intelligence and his love of life are at the heart of our company," the statement said. "All that we have done, and all that we will do, is informed by his values and his spirit. Through Oscar's example we know the way forward. We will make Oscar very proud of us by continuing in an even stronger way the work that Oscar loved so much."
