Sixteen gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP in Rivers state have boycotted the party's local and ward congresses in the state on Saturday.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt by the aspirants' spokesperson, Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo, said that the party "breached the party's procedures leading to the delegates' ward congress". 

The aspirants are Beks Dagogo-Jack, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Maj. Lancelot Anyanya (Rtd), Sampson Ngerebara, Nimi Walson-Jack, Sen. Lee Maeba, Gabriel Pidomson and Dr Silva Opusunju.

Others are Bernard Mikko, Chief Pawariso Horsfall, Oseleye Ojuka, Tonye Princewill, Capt. Nwankwo Sunday (Rtd), Prof. Don Baridam, Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja and Abie Abbey-Hart.

The killer of Grand Ole Opry and "Hee Haw" comic David "Stringbean" Akeman and his wife, Estelle, is being released from prison after spending 40 years behind bars.
WTVF-TV reports 64-year-old John A. Brown is being released from prison Monday.
On the evening of Nov. 11, 1973, Brown and his cousin, Doug Marvin Brown, ransacked the Akemans' cabin on their farm near Nashville, looking for the cash Akeman was rumored to keep there.
Police said the cousins were surprised by the Akemans as they returned home from the Opry. John Brown shot Stringbean Akeman as he walked into the cabin, then ran after his wife and shot her.
Brown said at a parole hearing April that he was sorry for his actions and has tried to change his life.
 

Taylor Swift has pulled all of her tunes from the music streaming service Spotify.
Swift, who had been refusing to put her new album 1989 on Spotify since its release last week, had reluctantly allowed her 2012 album Red to stream on the service.

Now it seems that the pop singer, who has spoken out against music piracy and advocated for the future of the music industry in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, has said sayonara to Spotify for good.
A Spotify spokesperson told Business Insider that all of the pop singer's music was no longer available on the site.

The “I’m Coming Out” hitmaker shocked a socialite on Saturday night at the InterContinental Miami MAKE-A-WISH Ball when she stopped mid-performance and snatched the attendee’s phone because it was distracting her.
“[She said] ‘Darling, I can't see with that flash,’” an insider at the ball recounted to FOX411.
Ross then quickly turned off the phone’s camera flash setting and returned it to the stunned audience member. She then resumed performing her classic dance hits.
The star performed in a an oversized, puffy red glittered gown.
Nine hundred guests paid $1,000-per-plate for the exclusive dinner. The money was used to support Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and attendees included some famous faces like director Brett Ratner and Scottie Pippen.
