Candace Cameron Bure explained Christmas is about more than receiving gifts, it's about giving them.

"Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year and its so special, so meaningful," Bure told FOX & Friends. "With my family...we go to a homeless shelter in the morning when we wake up on Christmas...and serve 30-40 people, sit down eat with them, and share the gospel message.It's what we do."

The former "Full House" star has a full house of her own now; the actress has 3 children with her former professional hockey player husband Valeri Bure.

The couple of more than two decades brought their children up to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas, she said.

"[There's] nothing wrong with gift giving at all," explained Bure. "But we like to give the gift first and share the message of Jesus Christ and then give presents after."

For the first time in more than a decade Barbie has been frozen out of the top spot on the holiday wish lists of girls.

The new reigning champion in the hearts of little girls is Team Elsa.

The megahit "Frozen" has earned Disney more than a billion at the box office worldwide and the gravitational pull of the animated film has now plucked Barbie from the throne she that she has occupied for 11 years, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.

The NRF's Holiday Top Toys Survey found that one in five parents, or 20 percent, plans to buy "Frozen" merchandise for their girls. That beats the 16.8 percent that are looking to make a Barbie purchase.

Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has been elected first female president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC.)

She was elected on Thursday at the body's ongoing 166th General Meeting in Vienna Austria.

She replaced the former president, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Adourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish.

 

The Cowardly Lion costume from the classic film "The Wizard of Oz" and the piano from the movie "Casablanca" each sold for over $3 million at a New York City auction.

They were among Hollywood memorabilia offered at Bonhams on Monday.

The big cat outfit, which went for just over $3 million, had been authenticated as the one Bert Lahr wore in the 1939 film. Its face is a sculpted likeness of the late actor.

A spokesman for costume owner James Comisar says a secondary costume used in the film sold at auction in recent years for close to $1 million.

Comisar has a trove of TV memorabilia from shows including "I Love Lucy" and "Lost." He has said he plans to use money from the Cowardl ... Read more »
